If the United States still exists in 2026, and if protests aren't illegal yet, I have a plan for possibly the biggest and most symbolic protest in American History. The plan is to hold a protest on 2026, July 4th, any time of the day would be fine. People can still light off fireworks (if they can even afford them) but this protest can be a massive symbolic move of American Unity. Why 2026? Because this date will mark 250 years since the United States Declaration of Independence. It is a very major number, it is a quarter of a millennium. I can't organize this protest alone. Let's get the word out, and make our voices heard!

A supplemental protest should also be held on 2025, July 4th, as that is closer, and still symbolic. How many times have been there been mass protests during the Fourth of July?

In Heaven,
I will spend
Every cool Summer evening
Lazy on the porch with my Mom,
We will go for long walks
And meet all my friends along the way

I will not waste another night
Shaking & trembling in her arms,
Praying to God to make it stop,
And terrified of the monsters outside;

My Mom says that someday
I will cross a Rainbow Bridge,
And she will come meet me in Heaven;

Her Preacher says that in Heaven
There is no terror or fear;

So I know
That in Heaven
There are no fireworks.

There are no Thundershirts
And no Evil Sounds;

There are lots of treats
And none of them makes me feel tired,
Or foggy, or unable to run & play:

In Heaven,
There will be lots of fun car rides
To places where my humans
Get yummy food they share with me:
And to doggie toy stores
Where I pick out new toys & chews;
And to dog parks,
Where I will run off leash all day,
And make lots of friends like me;

None of the car rides will be
Long hours spent trying to find
Peaceful silence and sanctuary
From the bangs, the pops, and whistling fizzles,
But especially from the huge
House-shaking BOOMS
That even the Thundershirts
And strange treats cannot save me...

Once again this year, my neighborhood will sound like a war zone. So once again this year, I will be celebrating the #4thOfJuly driving around farms roads from before dark until probably around 1:00am, searching for a quiet peaceful spot for a terrified dog. 😢💔🐾

(Fireworks are illegal in my home state of #Illinois, but you wouldn't know it from the number of private citizens shooting off M-80s and having private sky shows.)

Dahlia “Sorbet” flower is covered in pointed petals that start out white or very pale pink and darken to deep reddish-pink tips. This one was very tall and photographed against a deep blue sky.
A bright yellow St. John’s Wort flower has short, wide, rounded petals around a large “burst” of dense, tipped filaments. This one was in British Columbia, Canada and was facing the afternoon sun.
A “spray” of Tall Oregon Grape flowers in upright clusters of little, round, bright yellow buds.
Dahlia “AC Dark Horse” is a large, hot pink flower with long, curved, pointed petals that grow over the flower’s center, obscuring it so the the flower looks like someone with pink, shaggy hair hanging in their face. 😁
