These are two different renderings of the same footage. I was following the Pueblo Alto Trail through a huge crack in the cliff face. It was very windy down in the slot! At the end you can see the Kin Kletso Ruins in the near distance.
On March 11, 1907, Teddy Roosevelt declared Chaco Canyon a national monument, protecting its incredible cultural resources and recognizing its significance as an Ancestral Puebloan cultural center. Chaco Canyon on my last storm chase this fall. Got totally lucky with the timing. I had been chasing from Grand Canyon to Monument Valley to Goosenecks of the San Juan to Shiprock to Bisti Wilderness, mostly getting skunked. (But, hey, fun scenery anyway!) Then at the last minute I decided to head to Chaco, since I'd never been. Had to literally run out of the truck to the set up spot as this storm moved in. Barely got set up in time.
#ChacoanBeltRoads are only found on sites in extreme northwest #NewMexico, extreme southwest #Colorado, and extreme southeast #Utah - an area generally referred to as the #NorthernSanJuan. They are not found in #ChacoCanyon itself or in other chacoan areas like the Chuska Front, the Red Mesa Valley, El Malpais, or the Zuni region.

This belt road is on #UteMountainUte tribal lands and as as far as I know has never been documented.
We're approaching the end of this series on, so perhaps now it is time to ask the question - what are these things? The first observation we can make is that they are not pan-Chacoan. No belt roads have been found on sites in #ChacoCanyon itself
