Okay more thinking about #Debian #Linux. I'm thinking of using #Plasma rather than #GNOME. Is that a good idea?
What container environment should I run? I see there are several.
Should I have the containers on a separate partition, and also another separate partition for data storage?
I'll also be running Windows 10 and Windows 11 virtual machines. Anything I should know about that?
How does disk encryption work? I've been using Bitlocker with Windows. What should I do in Debian?
@arstechnica I recommend #asustor nas. Asustor not only allow whatever drives you prefer, but also allow you flash a different OS from the one they provide(and recommend). Something that #synology has already rendered virtualy impossible to do
#asustor is non-usa, non-chinese but from #taiwan btw. Also something one may want to take into account these days.
I have #nextcloud running on #debian on #asustor and it flies.

Weil meine Konzentration bereits nachlässt: Bei der #Debian-Installation parallel zu Windows wähle ich doch trotzdem die efi-Partition von Windows aus und sag dem Installer, dass er sie als Fat32 verwenden und unter /boot/efi einhängen soll, oder?
Ich bin mir nicht bewusst, bei dieser Installation von #Debian irgendwas anders gemacht zu haben, als sonst, aber diesmal hat der Installer die Windows-Installation nicht erkannt. Sie ist noch da, aber ich muss jetzt den fucking grub manuell konfigurieren. Verdammte Hühnerkacke!

Weil der Installer von #LinuxMint keine Verschlüsselung bei manuell(!) konfigurierter Partitionierung ermöglicht, hab ich vor einiger Zeit angefangen, alle Rechner auf #Debian umzustellen. Nun bin ich verunsichert, ob das eine gute Idee war, weil ich inzwischen über einige Software und Tutorials gestolpert bin, die zwar mit Ubuntu (und Derivaten) funktionieren, aber nicht mit Debian.
About 25 years ago, I disliked that so many Debian tools were written in Perl because the language allowed too many ways to do the same thing. Now, I consider Perl 5 mature and predictable compared to Python 3.
Does anybody know why the last #libreoffice in #Debian is that outdated?
