At #fosdem @ayo presented #Elk, a lightweight #mastodon client born from the experience of #twittermigration.

Elk are not considered native to the Sierra Nevada mountains. So when they wander in, they're seen as new arrivals, even pests. But new (actually old) evidence and Indigenous people's accounts suggest that we've gotten the history wrong, and that has implications for more than just elk.

It could also mean a better, more fire safe future for the whole region.

Based on preliminary testing, I'd be totally comfortable with this as my main interface (at least on faster machines, as I'm fond of daily driving 10+ year old thinkpads from time to time XD) for GtS, and I wouldn't miss the Mastodon web UI.

Yeah, I finished the crazy project which is completely sewn by hand - including a warm polar fabric lining. (The only things I've sewn so far have been tablecloths and cushions and I waited 2 yrs for a part of my machine.) I used this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rguHHZFR-k0 for the pattern.
