IN TASMANIA…
I'm not on the kunanyi-Mt Wellington summit, but the city council's summitcam is, where this morning at 07.45 it is -1°C at 1271m with a light wind from the NNE at 1kph. A fine and calm morning.

The rising sun shines off the waters of the Derwent and if you look closely you can see the Tasman Bridge in the glow. A patch of fair weather cumulus drifts lazily past the summit through which you see the Eastern Shore and, to the right of the picture, South Arm peninsula, beyond which lie the waters of Storm Bay. The town of Kingston nestles on the Derwent shore at the right extremity of the frame.

In the other photo, the warming glow of the rising sun shines on the cold dolerite boulders of the summit.

There's a little snow about up there this morning. Don't you wich you were up here?

One thing that i learnt is that #Tasmania has many boutique #whiskey and #gin #distilleries

They are all there wth $200 bottles..

#Salamanca Markets in #Nipaluna (#Hobart ) are always worth a visit whenever you’re there. Even if it is busy with a cruise liner in town, it is still good to explore - and catch up with stalls/stall holders you remember from last time. Some…unique personalities there too (such as the artist Moopoo).

This image is called Light in the Dark. It was taken after 'fog hunting' in #tasmania. and driving the backroads to get back to #hobart. I had noticed that the sun was piercing through plantation forest so I hopped out to see what I could find.

It took me a couple of years to release this image but it's since become a firm favorite. A gallery visitor described it as being the hope that no matter how dark life gets, that there will always be light.

Oh wow #Mona in #Nipaluna / #Hobart is exceptional. Also currently the host of some art pieces such as Ryoji Ikeda’s "supersymmetry", “Les Consoles de Jeu Souveraines” by Huang Yongping, “Stolen Thunder” by Cornelia Parker. Their established exhibits including Cloaca Professional by Wim Delvoye, Kryptos by Brigita Ozolins, and White Library by Wilfredo Prieto, make this an amazing place to visit.
Make sure you enter in the morning because it can take you a day. You cannot appreciate the Museum without the App, which gives descriptions, information and even audio relating to the pieces. Take ear buds and a power bank for the phone too.

White House by Ai Weiwei. Qing Dynasty house sitting upon white, with every pole of the house sitting on a glass sphere. The exhibit is underground, with light stone flat walls surrounding and a small skylight illuminating the piece through a concrete ceiling.
The Siloam tunnel piece, a 30m long circular tunnel carved into the light stone bedrock. Every few meters are a steel ring.either side of the floor is embedded lighting with small, palm sized cube-cut stones of the same material as the sides of the tunnel. There is an incessant deep bass mechanical humming noise, quite loud and oppressive but also not shrill or high pitched. The view is looking back up the passage from the lower end.
The carousel piece Les Consoles de Jeu Souveraines, a green tarpaulin covers the structure and instead of seats or horses that rise and fall, are various elements includes: a taxidermied horse excluding the head, a metal skeleton of a deer, an iron aircraft carrier, a wooden tiger pouncing onto a wooden person lying on the floor, suspended cast iron shaped into Hing Kong and its islands, that rotate in the opposite direction. A single extremely bright filament light is the only light in the room, suspended in the middle of the carousel.
Inside a chamber of the Kryptos piece, looking up at a mirror. Binary sequences are visible on the walls, and embedded lighting in the floor is also reflected. The room measures 2m x 1m or so, but the mirror above does not lead to a sense of claustrophobia.
