I … cannot even believe this.

Chris Lee-Egan and I wrote a Medium piece (medium.com/@marcprecipice/thre) about misinformation in the #Hopkins bike lane debates. We quoted opponents of the lanes talking about severe injuries and deaths on the street.

They have a response up claiming “no one ever said” what we claimed. But … they still say it, on the same site where they published their rebuttal. 🤯🤯🤯

(The rest of the rebuttal is ridiculous, too.) #BikeTooter #RoadSafety #Berkeley

Cyclists are portrayed in debates about bike lanes as younger, athletic people. Berkeley's Commission on Aging recommended against supporting the city's current bike lane project (#Hopkins), apparently thinking bike lanes were not for older people.

And yet, over the past eleven years, the median age of the six cyclists and pedestrians severely injured or killed on Hopkins is 69. Only one of those people was under 50. The oldest was 78.

The stereotypes are wrong.

#introduction

Though not a superhero adopted at a young age by my parents, as I had believed for years, I survived the emotional blow that came with realizing my normality and moved on. However, I occasionally jump up and down to ensure that I haven’t gained the power of flight.

I was born and raised in #Baltimore City and am a product of Baltimore City Public Schools. I then studied computer science and art for four years but dropped out for a local newspaper job. From there, I worked a few IT jobs, including time spent at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, #Northrop Grumman, #UPS, and Johns #Hopkins University. I am now back at Northrop Grumman, working as a #cybersecurity expert and systems #engineer.

In 2016, I moved from Baltimore to #Sykesville, #Maryland, where I live with my wife and daughter. We also have a dog, two cats, and an undying love of #baseball.
