... reminded me of how much I dislike Paul Graham. Not personally; I've never met him. I read a bit of him online way back when, and then bought his book "Hackers & Painters", which was a collection of #essays that everyone was fawning over.

It struck me as an enormous pile of #obvious #generalities in which he spent WAY too much time trying to sound #Serious and #Important and that they were Novel Ideas. It's #garbage.

I dislike abbreviations because I feel like we don't need to manually save bytes, though I accept other opinions on this matter. One abbreviation, however, continues to catch me especially off guard because I often use a technology which goes under a very similar-looking abbreviation. I'm talking about the abbreviation for "if I recall correctly" ("IIRC") which is much too similar to the one for "Internet Relay Chat" ("IRC"). This confusion would go away if we used neither of them.
