A new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the #IsleofMan and #Liverpool City Region aims to strengthen #economic, cultural, and political ties. The agreement focuses on areas such as business, #tourism, #transport, #health, #energy, and public services. The regions share a long history, enhanced by the opening of a new Isle of Man #ferry terminal in Liverpool, which generated £3.2m for the local economy. This MoU is seen as a significant step towards fostering growth and development through increased collaboration. Both Mayor Steve Rotheram and Isle of Man Chief Minister Alfred Cannan highlighted the importance of closer economic ties and mutual benefits. The agreement also includes an annual conference, alternating between the two regions, and will be reviewed regularly to expand cooperation. With strong business links, including £2bn of annual trade, the partnership aims to open new opportunities for innovation, investment, and community development.

Irsko, Severní Irsko a ostrov Man, den 4.: rozloučení s ostrovem Man a pár jeho posledních atrakcí: čtyřrohé obce se nechtěly fotit, ale svezli jsme se hned dvěma parními vlaky na regionální a důlní železnici. A ještě jedna důlní drážka je na poslední fotce.

Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the Isle of Man, intermezzo 2: tramways. Wherever there weren't trains on the Isle of man, locals built tramway tracks. They run the seacoast, climb the highest peak and serve the capital.

Irsko, Severní Irsko a ostrov Man, internmezzo 2: trqmvaje. Místní postavili tramvajove tratě všude tam, kam nejezdily vlaky. Tramvají se dá vyjet na nejvyšší vrchol ostrova, projet po pobřeží moře a samozřejmě fungují i v hlavním městě.

Whilst out the most Northerly tip of Angelsey today, just outside Cemas. The weather was so clear, you could see all the way across to the Isle of Man and the hills/mountains near Douglas and Castletown.

Met some locals from Cemas who said that they can't remember the last time they could see across that far.

Not a great shot with a pixel 6 pro camera... It's days like this I wish I had my Pentax X5 bridge camera on me. I really should keep it in the car again.

Hello I'm new to mendeddrum.org so probably time for a little #introduction / life snapshot.

I'm from the North West of England. My beard has started to go grey over the last couple of years.

I like messing about with #linux, #flightsim & #rpg gaming, #skiing, #paddleboarding, writing #bass heavy #electronicmusic and pick up other interests here and there. I spend a fair bit of time on the #isleofman visiting family.

I work as a Sysadmin/DevOps guy in a mainly #debian #proxmox environment.

Q. If the #IsleofMan does (as it seems it will) legalise #assisteddying, will there need to be 'border controls' to stop those seeking this exit from popping over the water to the IoM to take advantage of its legality (thereby shielding their friends & family form police investigation)?

While this is relatively easily handled when the patient (and supporters) are heading to Zurich, its going to be a lot more difficult for the state to police if there just popping over a bit of the Irish Sea!
