Almost done with this first vambrace of the pair! Waiting on delivery of some longer rivets. Then hoping to film the whole process of building the second one.

Mirkwood Book Nook.
To display the Mithril-Miniatures figures of Elrond and Thranduil I built a book-nook.
Scratchbuilt trees and some elven architecture.
Built the box first, with planning for the interior. Then built and painted the two halves before closing them together.
Just found this pic that I took at Wakehurst place last week, which conclusively proves that Ents do exist…

You know what's a billion-dollar movie series waiting to be made? Earthsea.
Is there some copyright nonsense with it holding us back? Did the failure of that wrongheaded Ghibli version put people off?
It has everything #LOTR has, without the audience fatigue; it has everything #HarryPotter has, without the problems, including an escalating maturity and increasing darkness; it would succeed where #Narnia failed.
Why we aren't ploughing all our resources into this IP is beyond me.

The detail of the horse heads, the singularity of the pommel, the filigrees, the Nordic-inspired blade.... It's one of those designs that always haunts my mind, and, despite it being a challenge, I felt it was a natural next step in my leather carving and moulding skills. It's been six months of slow progress in my free time, but I couldn't be happier with the result
"The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the deep one last time. Let this be the hour when we draw swords together. Fell deeds awake. Now for wrath, now for ruin, and the red dawn. Forth Èorlingas!"
As emblematic as Narsil or Sting, and just as tied to its bearer, is Herugrim, the sword of the king of Rohan Théoden. And, for me, one of the most beautiful works of forge and blacksmithing ever designed
‘You’re arrested for Gate-breaking, and Tearing up of Rules, and Assaulting Gate-keepers, and Trespassing, and Sleeping in Shire-buildings without Leave, and Bribing Guards with Food.’
'And what else?’ said Frodo.
‘That’ll do to go on with,’ said the Shirriff-leader.
‘I can add some more, if you’d like it,’ said Sam. ‘Calling your Chief Names, Wishing to punch his Pimply Face, and Thinking you Shirriffs look a lot of Tom-fools.’
#ThrowbackThursday with this 2022 map of one of my oldest passions: my mother used to read Bilbo to us to put us to sleep, I read all Tolkien works and try to learn Sindarin during my teens, Jackson's trilogy is my favorite movie since I saw FOTR at the theater at 9 y.o, I try to read LOTR & Silmarillion regularly...
It took an eternity to tool and another eternity to lace. Hoping to do the Beleriand one one day !
If you've ever dreamt of living in the style of Frodo and Bilbo Baggins, now there's a builder to help make your dream a reality. His name is Lucas Moret and you can see more of his work: @lucas.renove on TikTok
So trying to figure out what I just saw, I guess the laserblaster is like the #LOTR ring thing, and Billy went straight into Smeagol/Gollum mode without wasting our time with hobbits and wizards or quests or any sense of a plot at all.
With a bit less time following cars driving around and the pool frolicking this could've been a half-hour movie.
"They cursed us. Murderer they called us. They cursed us, and drove us away. And we wept, Precious, we wept to be so alone. And we only wish to catch fish so juicy sweet. And we forgot the taste of bread... the sound of trees... the softness of the wind. We even forgot our own name. My Precious".
All shot using real lighting, smoke, figures & miniature sets. I digitally illustrated some hair onto Gollum as this figure doesn't have any.
