Anybody got recommendations for a wireless keyboard that I could possibly replace this old girl with?
This keyboard rules, and it still works perfectly, but I want to go wireless to reduce desk clutter.
I'd like something that's fairly heavy. Full 104- or 103-key a must. Rubber domes preferred -- or, if it's mechanical, something that's pretty quiet, as my office is also the bedroom that I share with my wife, and I like to work at night.
I made a start on my 30-key keymap. I think the options in vial seem very limiting at first glance but it is also very possible I don’t really understand the power I might get from it #SplitMechanicalKeyboard
More and more I just wish that the keyboards could know what program is active to give context sensitive layouts.
I think this idea comes from being very used to vi/vim style modal editing. I don’t need my keys to be alphas in the most cases. I’m happy switching to inputting characters in a separate mode so I want to design my keymap like that.
If the OS could be more expressive in telling the keyboard what modal state to be in that could also be really interesting.
hope you all enjoy your new pastel dreams once it arrives!
not only can you get a full rainbow, you'll get options to deck the board out with crabs & stars.
First Solder, First Ortho. WDYT?
I’ve been buildings #mechanicalkeyboards for a while now, but after trying out different layouts and sizes, I’ve found the double space 40% to be my endgame. The F row here is all macros and shortcuts, while the rest has everything I need for coding and general tasks.
Keyboard is the Dimple+ with PBTFans Resonance keycaps and TTC Silent Bluish White switches.
Mechanical keyboard people, I am looking for some pointers.
I hope to improve my mechanical keyboard experience by changing keycaps profile. Starting simple, no plans for fully custom build (yet).
I do feel the current one is too tall, as I do have quite small hands and pressing top rows is a bit too hard to reach.
I do also feel that the general keyboard rise of the back (paired with keycaps profile) is not helping there.
Is there anything I could do to counter this too high rise?
I was looking into the cherry profile, not sure though if it's still not too tall.
Keyboard:
Razer BlackWidow Chroma v2
Green switches (clicky, tactile)
UK layout (sv qwerty) with non standard bottom row
Any recommendations on what profiles to look at and maybe also where? Would like to also add some flair to it ;)
Howdy #Hachyderm! I recently migrated my account here so I suppose I should probably do an #Introduction.

latest addition to the keyboard collection! (frog keycaps by @sailorhg)
i always wanted a bluetooth split 5-row ortholinear keyboard. saw a board for a wireless Helix KB which is absolutely perfect for this. i’ve not done anything with those screens yet, but it will definitely be useful when i decide to start adding things like MIDI KB features

Compose key superiority be like "A Ñandú went from Wrocław to Bøur."
ISO keyboards were a mistake. Compose key is all we need. Change my mind
Dear #MechanicalKeyboards folks, I've decided to give up.
I've switched my #ErgoDash to #ColemakDH in mid October (see https://marcoxbresciani.codeberg.page/keyboards/ergodash/ergodash.html#ergodash---day-443- ) but I've never been a touch-typer and it's very difficult to find even 20 minutes per day for training (see https://www.keybr.com/profile/f5vmplt ).
While working I'm slowing down everyone, waiting for me typing and doing bunch of errors.
I don't think I'll continue: I'm updating my #QMK layers to go back to #QWERTY.
20+ years of QWERTY are hard to change.
If anyone has recommendations for a keyboard, that:
hit me with those recs.
Nice to have but not necessary:
I do occasionally game, so arrow keys and such are necessary, no smaller space bar or weirdly switched around tab/ctrl/shift. Bonus points for better rollover (being able to press more keys simultaneously).
Budget is sub-100€. No Razr.
It's been a while so I'm gonna do a new #introduction
I'm Emmy and I wanna find kind, cozy and interesting people here, so feel free to say hi
I'm not very active, mostly a lurker, but I love talking about #Movies especially on #Letterboxd (lmk if you wanna follow me there), #Videogames #MechanicalKeyboards and #Tech in general. I have more interests but those are my main ones

All QT apps gaining support for special key codes like XF86Copy and XF86Paste in 6.10.
Useful for keyboards with custom firmware particularly on Linux.
Hey there, it's been a while. I took a little unintended break from social media.
You take the good with the bad I suppose, and while my family isn't religious we do weirdly exchange Christmas gifts. It's a fun excuse to get together and enjoy delicious food.
That said, a blog post is now up on my new GamaKay SN75 build. If you're into keyboards check it out and let me know what you think! https://andyscott.me/blog/2025-01-05_sn75/
