#ZMK celebrates it's five year anniversary/birthday today!
The very first (useless) commit:
```
Author: Pete Johanson <REDACTED>
Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this wireless #keyboard journey: the users, contributors, designers, and vendors who all have helped make this happen!
To another five years!
Slowly getting there, at least for the letter keys I've seen to update my muscle memory quite well!
Doing any shortcuts and moving around is still less ingrained, despite having put movements on a vim-style hjkl -based layer.
Up to 45 wpm on the split #keyboard, still not great, but also not bad for a few days of minimal training during travel!
#TIL that if I can't enter a vowel with a macron (like ū) in SwiftKey using a long press on a key, one way to work around that is to add Māori as a language, since it uses them, and voila, it's an option now!
Just having Japanese enabled wasn't enough, even though romaji uses them to make long vowels
For the first time ever I tested my typing speed. Turned out to be 68 WPM (words per minute).
Not sure if this is good or bad but I noticed the new and keybords that are being sold these days are slightly different from my (old) keyboard.
Should I get myself a new keyboard? Which (fullsize) non clicky keyboards are recommended? #keyboard
I’m now at the age where my body complains about too much typing on crap #keyboards. Let’s see if this helps, if I ever get up to my regular typing speed (currently: 25 wpm instead of ~85 wpm).
Got my hands again on a #cellphone that I regularly used years ago, where the original #keypad stopped working and I replaced it with tactile mini switches and attached the replacemend keypad with silicone to the device. Was durable, and still works :-).
Phone is still used irregularly.
Vivaldi’s like that coworker who brings their own keyboard, because the one provided just won’t cut it.
Fortunately not full backlight keys, because I really like that #mechanical #keyboard design and would have bought it :p
I've resisted the mechanical keyboard siren call for years, but in the end, 8BitDo got me with the NES color scheme
@ajsadauskas @JessTheUnstill also #BlackBerry's #PlayBook #Tablet was released as a accessory screen for their Phones, which gave it "#WiiU-Effect" in terms of marketing.
I mean, the hardware was never their problem and #SMS-Typists swear by their #BlackberryCurve's #keyboard but BlackBerry's #toolchain - just like #SymbianOS's - was just hideous to the point that devs like @fuchsiii didn't even want to try making #Apps for those devices.
#Sony even released some #Symbian #S60 devices but since they didn't have the same signing keys, one couldn't even #sideload apps (not to mention they didn't had the #OviStore on those either!)...
One of the reasons I still enjoy using my 2013 17" #Alienware #laptop (4 batteries later.. getting hard to find; and now running linux) is that - besides being an absolute unit - it has a FULL 101+ fullsize #keyboard. No keys with 5 overloads, no half-size/smished key bullshit, full cursor-t, numpad.
The (otherwise very nice) super slim MSI from work I'm using now has an undersized `Shift` key and where I put my pinky to `Shift` ends up giving me a capital `Z` which is super annoying.
Anybody got recommendations for a wireless keyboard that I could possibly replace this old girl with?
This keyboard rules, and it still works perfectly, but I want to go wireless to reduce desk clutter.
I'd like something that's fairly heavy. Full 104- or 103-key a must. Rubber domes preferred -- or, if it's mechanical, something that's pretty quiet, as my office is also the bedroom that I share with my wife, and I like to work at night.
Mechanische Tastatur "DasKeyboard 4C TKL", deutsch, Modell 2020, Cherry MX Brown Switches, mit OVP
Hab mir das #Keyboard günstig in einer Auktion geklickt und es 2 Tage im Einsatz gehabt. Komme aber mit den braunen Switches und den dunklen Keycaps weniger gut klar als gedacht. Daher möchte ich es hier abgeben zum Kurs von 65,- EUR inkl. Versand innerhalb Deutschlands (Neupreis liegt bei 149,- EUR) oder Abholung in Düsseldorf für 60,-€
Preis: 65 € :: fedi.markets
