Again, still, always and forever, remember that your period data is only safe if it stays on your device and is encrypted from the ground up and only you know your password. That is what My Period Data Is Mine! gives you - full privacy.

Anything else is unsafe.

We're in this together. Stay safe out there ❤️

MEDIANAMA · Fem-Tech Apps Collect Excessive Data, Experts WarnDiscover how fem-tech apps, including period trackers, collect and misuse personal data, raising serious privacy concerns.

A major privacy issue with Signal is its constant request for access to contacts. It might sound convenient, but this access increases the risk of accidentally choosing the wrong contact (such as The Atlantic journalist) when adding someone to a group or forwarding texts. We have been critical of this "we'll remind you later" pattern that Signal adopts when access to contacts is denied. An app "built for privacy" should respect its user's #privacy choices.

DNA of 15 Million People for Sale in 23andMe Bankruptcy

Just call them 23andWe.

On a more serious note, this is compounding the issue of sharing immutable information (like biometric data) with others - especially those with lax security practices, blame their lax security practices on the users, shares user data, and reserves the "right" to sell/transfer this data in the event an acquisition - or bankruptcy, in this case - happens.

"Syncthing" is a game-changing open source tool for managing files between devices without any cloud servers or third parties. Perfect for PDFs I don't want in the cloud!

My simple setup:
• Phone → Syncthing → Computer
• One-way sync (deletions stay on computer)
• Background sync via WiFi

The workflow: download PDF to phone → appears on computer → delete from phone.
