I got the privilege to be invited to meet the wonderful team and eat at Blue Hill restaurant at Stone Barns during my stay in New York City and this will stay with me as a marquant and warm memory.
Lovely, dedicated and attentive people. Very generous.

They make magic with vegetables.
And forage and harvest from their own woods, gardens and fields.
You can for example order a drink at the bar from one corner of the land.

I ate on a high table for three and a half hour a menu that was created specifically for me.

What a whirlwind few days!
My collaboration with Alicia Eggert opened at Urbanglass in downtown Brooklyn (up till May 5th) go see it an bring a friend - you will need to work together to activate it.
Ali an I went on a VERY memorable date. I also bent this happy sun for an artist with an upcoming show named Alex Paat.

Ali an I also went to Luna Luna- this Basquiat drawing Ferris wheel was my favorite, (although the Harring carousel and Dali mirror sphere were close seconds).

We ate at Dirt Candy- perhaps the most delicious veggies I have ever tasted.

Oh an I baked bread 10! Not good rise, but fantastic taste. Once again, 4/5ths the flour mass is additives :) olives an pecans this time. Delectable sandwiches... But also hard to resist just eating it with nothing else.

Another exciting thing I did at work was make this 25mm crackle tube!

The folks in the office are talking about selling 8 foot crackle tubes. I had never done one in 25mm, but hey it totally works, especially when you bake out the filling in a kiln! I dont think 8 feet would be too heavy... so long as it was handled carefully.

I learned that the opaque colorful frit is not as nice as the clear-and that it will actually be cheaper to buy crystal f4 "frit" than it will be to pay people to crush glass. That is, unless the office can upsell the recycling- our fill glass is currently recycled tubes.

I was kinda fearing the 8 footer, but now I really DO want to make one. Its slow and meditative- as long as the tube doesn't split open and spill its crushed glass guts everywhere :)

I really should make a peertube video of this so you can see the lightning

Here is a "hello World" video for me trying Peertube!

I am still pretty new at this, but figured I would give it a go since a few friends and students told me I should just make some videos about the stuff I make.

The idea of doing this completely off of YouTube in a decentralized, anti YouTube production value manner excites me.

My voiceover for my first video completely didn't work- hence the V2.2.... about to go off the grid camping for a few days :)

Husband fixed my mixer (yay!) so there's #cake just coming out of the oven. Making a 6" 2 layer vanilla cake with a swiss meringue frosting. The center will have a layer of frosting and my mil's berry jam & I think I'm going to decorate it with toasted coconut. #fancy

Photo is 2 cakes in pans cooling on a metal rack on the counter. A handmade bowl by @APBBlue is photobombing. 😏

Some shots from me hand making fancy lightbulbs to sell fancy things to fancier people on a nearby overcrowded castle surrounded by a moat :)

The Novial yellow Italian glass is really nice, but it's thin- so it cools off faster, and is more crackative. Make those bends perfect!

The yellow glass turns red when it's hot- so you can see the last bends.

Two N s here are in the name of the castle. Laid out slightly differently. Can you spot the difference between them?

While there I couldn't help but stop into the main museum real quick to see their show "Fantastic Creatures of the Venetian Lagoon"

Yeah yeah, I know there ARE other glassblowers out there, but the decadence of the Murano glass in these era's never seems to get old for me. These fantastical creatures and Zaney designers one upping each other are perfect examples! I couldn't help but photograph just about every one of them.

Gosh, I am a sucker for fru fru Venetian goblets and glass! This show more than delivered!

A little video of the 3D Cobalt Eclipse Sunset piece I made yesterday. It's all aged in an bright now. I love how the eclipse really lights its surroundings differently depending on what side they are on.

Walking around it plays tricks on your eyes as the tubes cross each other.

My head is swimming with other iterations I wanna make, but this is probably the last one I will make for a few weeks- travel coming up!

Gosh, wine really does taste better out of a fancy cup.

Our friend Alex Demmerle studied with the Maestro's on Murano and gave these to us. His Brooklyn studio rent jumped suddenly to over $700 a month so he is having to relocate- same tired old story.

I should give him a piece of neon... I keep dreaming of a "design your own cup made for a king" website to gamify glassblowing and bring different custom commissions to local cup makers.
