Some details:

Uses a 16" uperfect portable monitor
All connected to a cheap arcade USB encoder from AliExpress.
Everything connected to jsaux dock. 1 USB is arcade buttons, 1 is haute board and 1 is monitor for power

In 1976, Sesame Street had a segment in rotation called “Pinball Number Count.” The music is captivating, hopping between 4/4, 4/3, and 5/4 time signatures. And the animation is bursting with color and life. It has forever lived in my head.

Fun fact 1: the song counts to 12, but there were only 11 segments.

I recently posted a video of Stern's painted light bulbs and mentioned the bulb condoms Williams used. Naturally I was asked to show the condoms!

So here's the difference. Williams put these silicone filters over theirs to change the color. While I'm pretty hardcore Williams fan, I somehow always liked how the painted incandescent bulbs look like.

Stopped in the hipster barcade for a bit, played two games of Dungeons and Dragons #pinball, got the grand champion. Also learned that apparently the code is _so_ beta that it won't bring the high score table up in attract mode, just in case you wondered how much of pinball is part of the software industry.

So last night I went to what turned out to be (from casual research) Michigan's largest-ever regularly scheduled #pinball tournament [*], and I squeaked into the playoffs, and got stuck playing Baby Pac-Man again because the person choosing games that round just likes seeing the world burn.

Anyway thanks to the useful advice of @ifixcoinops and @JulieSqveakaroo I got a second-place finish, good enough (combined with some other second-place finishes) to get me to the next round of playoffs, so, much appreciated there.

[*] The tournament started at 7 pm and word is it finished, champion finally awarded, at 5:19 am. I was knocked out of playoffs after two rounds, at about 1:30.

With the decline of the US shopping mall, some of those that remain have gotten pleasantly weird.

The old mall near us has a Gashapon store, a vintage T-shirt store, and just opened up a "pinball museum" with pinball machines going back to the 1950s, as well as a bunch of old video arcade games. You buy a pass for an hour or more, and can play as many old games as you want.

I always loved this feature in Williams system 7, 9 and early 11 boards. They have a 7-segment display that gives a rough estimate what's happening (or not happening) when the thing boots. Previously and after first gen system 11 we just had to look at the two diagnostic LEDs and hope to see something. While not strictly necessary in the grand scheme, it was a fun detail. #pinball #pinrepair #electronics #repair #retrotech

I'm not sure how I will use this Friendica account, since I also have the Mastodon account. We'll see. There's things I like about Friendica (especially how easy it is to follow threads) as well as Mastodon (especially how easy it is to filter and block to protect my #MentalHealth). I might set up some scripts to synchronise followers or some such, or maybe not and cultivate a different vibe on both accounts. Who knows.

I'll be trying on some other #SelfHosting #Fediverse servers as well.
