We were taught from a very young age (would have been the late 70's, early 80's 
) to watch the drivers at an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing, and to make sure that they have seen you AND are going to stop before you step into the road.
I am a strong advocate for safe roads, footpaths and shared paths - AND I believe in taking precautions for maintaining safety such as this.
When did such teaching stop happening??

Just wondering if there are places where people take common sense precautions without detractors making a political issue of it.
Very low level of masking here in West Central #Alberta- most days I'm the only staff member at work masked- very busy fast food/coffee place- though -
I have been thinking *alot* of a very simple reply made some time ago to a post I made.
It made me think very deeply about why continue with #COVID #precautions - a topic I think about nearly every day.
Because precautions have significant opportunity costs.
As someone who professionally thinks about high frequency events, each with small probability but large impact on failure, the risk model is natural & easy.
Is the risk model the best model for the threat profile now?
Is there another?
