Window in the Sky -
This shadow is from my favourite tree, currently sheltering a fox (I think) but it has housed a family of raccoons in the past. It always seems on its last legs and is almost completely hollow, but still keeps standing there.

Sometimes you can spend a lot of time driving around the area looking for good vantage points from which to capture just the right image. Sometimes you just need to look in your own back yard.

Evergreen trees are on either side of this image, as if framing the scene of a bank of clouds, a bit of blue sky, then more cloud shapes as they reach the horizon. The foreground has a powdery covering of snow, with a strong shadow of stark tree branches from the tree to the left of the frame. You can only just see a few of the twisted twigs and branches from the tree at top left of the frame.

Rainy stairs of Calton Hill. ☔

Hardly any tourists out on our last day in Edinburgh. Earlier in the week, these stairs were crowded with people. Now, only rivers of rain.

Edinburgh was a magical visit. I'd love to go back and explore all the spots we missed.
