Where do you personally learn about new tabletop RPGs?

I am scheduling a simple Edict RPG playtest with some friends.

The goal is to see how the dice system and abilities hold up. Combat will happen at a later playtest.

I wanted to be certain it was quick and easy to design adventurers, so I created the entirety of this one-shot within an hour using a stopwatch.

As an introverted kid, I found solace in creating games to play with my brother—small worlds where imagination reigned and I could explore safely. #RPGs and #WarGames expanded that space, letting me shed the weight of my past and connect with others through storytelling. #WorldIntrovertDay is a perfect opportunity to recharge my batteries and make something small yet meaningful. I will probably end up putting it on my shelf of unfinished works, but at least I'm still creating.

Hey there! I’m Petrichord (she/her). Please don’t call me Petri—it makes me think of the biology class I failed in college. I signed up for Mastodon back in 2018 but only recently started using it this past year, and then my instance (octodon.social) announced its shutdown so I've decided to migrate here to make new friends! By day, I’m a marketer from New Jersey. By night, I’m a do-everything-else-to-stop-the-encroaching-feeling-of-doom-er. My distraction of choice is #Acting. I have a BFA in #MusicalTheatre performance, and I spend my free time working professionally and with community theatre companies. I sing, dance, act, choreograph, direct, and design costumes. I also run a shadowcast of The #RockyHorror Picture Show and have been a performer with the cast for over a decade.

Some minor updates this morning. Let me know if anything is missing or wrong.

Been working on my family-friendly, genre neutral #TTRPG with the help of my kids. So far we have trialled 2 different dice mechanics and have for now settled on a dice pool system using only d6s.

This was mainly cause my eldest kid said "Mum, its dumb to use d10s or d12s or d20s. Not everyone has those. I bet a lot of kid families have yatzy at home though. We should just use those."

My kids are way smarter than me apparently.
