The same night of the party, the incoming president launched $TRUMP, a #MemeCoin built on the #Solana platform. Its market cap over the weekend climbed past $14 billion. Like with other meme coins, there’s no underlying product. #Trump told his followers in a social media post, “It’s time to celebrate everything we stand for: WINNING!”

The website for $TRUMP says 80% of the coins are held by the #TrumpOrganization & affiliates.

In related news the Trump Organization released "ethics rules" governing Trump's interactions with his business (quotes mine)

The plan says the company won't enter new contracts with foreign governments - however the plan doesn’t limit the Trump Organization from pursuing additional foreign deals with private companies, a change from how things were handled when Trump assumed office in 2017.

#EricTrump, the #TrumpOrganization’s exec VP, has repeatedly disputed claims that the family business profited from #SecretService stays at #Trump properties & said that the company often gave the Secret Service agents the hotel rooms free of charge or at steeply discounted rates.

However, piecemeal expense records congressional investigators have obtained over the past 4 years have contradicted Eric Trump’s claims.

That night, 4 rooms for a “Sheikh Al Thani Family Extended Stay” were charged at rates far less than what the #SecretService was charged…. The Al Thanis, who are a #Qatar royal family, were charged $280 for 3 rooms & $490 for one room.

The Democratic report did not reveal the total number of rooms rented by the #SecretService, which is considered sensitive #law enforcement info. Spox for the Secret Service, the #Trump campaign & the #TrumpOrganization did not respond to requests for comment.

Her report did not go over well at the #TrumpOrganization, which hasn’t previously been subject to such policing of its internal operations. The company’s lawyers fired off a letter to the court comparing her to the obsessive Inspector Javert from “Les Misérables” & demanding her removal. They accused her of intentionally running up an enormous bill cataloguing minor accounting matters. The company must pay for her team’s work…,a tab that ran to $2.6M over the 1st 14 months.

…Jones is empowered to review bank statements, scour accounting methods, & examine significant wire transfers, sales, purchases or loans before they occur. She is obligated to report to the court any deficiencies, false statements or material misrepresentations….

She did just that in Jan…. In a 12-pg report, she told the judge that a mysterious debt long claimed by #Trump had never actually existed & that the #TrumpOrganization had loaned Trump money that it improperly failed to disclose.

The judge ordered #Trump & his co-defendants to pay the state nearly $364M in "#illGottenGains" & interest — from before & after the ruling — that has accrued to >$120M. Since the case is a #civil matter, Trump does not face the prospect of prison time.

Trump was not present for Thursday's arguments. His attorney & a lawyer for #NYAG #LetitiaJames, whose office brought the case, argued before the justices in a Manhattan courtroom.

Lawyers for #Trump & #TrumpOrganization told an appeals panel Thurs that it should throw out a judge's ruling that Trump must pay hundreds of millions in profit obtained through #fraud, plus interest.

≥2 of the justices from the 5-justice panel from the Appellate Division, First Judicial Dept of the NY State Supreme Court seemed skeptical about the enormity of the judgment, which has ballooned to $489M.

Days after mysterious FBI raid on #Russian’s #Trump Towers III unit, the reason is revealed

By Jay Weaver
Updated May 16, 2023

"Last Thursday, a squad of FBI special agents, assisted by local police, descended on #TrumpTower III at 15811 Collins Ave. to carry out a search of unit 4102. It’s owned by a similarly named shell company, MIC-USA LLC, that is controlled by two Russian businessmen, Patsulya and Agunda Konstantinovna Makeeva, according to state corporation records. Makeeva was not arrested in connection with the Justice Department’s crackdown.

[...]

"If convicted the two Russians faced up to 20 years in prison for violating the export laws and up to 20 years in prison for conspiring to commit international money laundering.

[...]

"Before becoming president in 2016, Trump signed a deal with the developers of the 45-story condo buildings to name the property after him to help promote sales. Foreign buyers, especially from Latin America and Russia, flocked to Trump Towers, as they did with other Trump-branded properties in Sunny Isles Beach."

Where to begin... Well, let's start with this "oldie but goodie" from 2017:

[#Trump's] #Russia Scandal Was Desperately Missing a #BikerGang Subplot. Well, Here It Is.

Paging Hunter S. Thompson.

By Charles P. Pierce
Published: Jun 26, 2017

"[#Mangushev] helped found a biker club called #SpetsnazMC. #Spetsnaz is a group of motorcycle-loving #SouthFlorida expatriates who named themselves after the Russian equivalent of Delta Force or Seal Team Six.

"Spetsnaz members once asked for official recognition from Russia's biggest biker gang, the #NightWolves, an infamous group that has strong ties to Russia's security services. The Night Wolves played a role in the Ukrainian uprising, once had their flag flown in outer space by Russian cosmonauts and are under U.S. sanctions.

"So this Mangushev character starts a motorcycle gang among his fellow Russian expats that he names after the Russian equivalent of the special forces. This gang, named after the Russian special forces, seeks the imprimatur of an actual Russian biker gang that, unlike their American brethren, doesn't settle for tearing up small towns along the California coast. This bunch helps overthrow governments. This is not a guy I'd do business with but, then again, I'm not #IgorZorin, with his millions buried in coffee cans in his backyard.

"Zorin and Mangushev have ties in both Russia and the United States: In Russia, security firms that have been linked to Mangushev have won $2.4 million worth of contracts from Zorin's agency since 2015. In Miami, Mangushev once transferred a Florida company that owned a $1.5 million condo out of his name and into Zorin's. No deed of sale was recorded, meaning the price paid — if any — is unknown. The condo is one of three units Zorin owned at Trump Palace, a ritzy tower in Sunny Isles Beach built by a local developer and branded by the Trump Organization. Their total value? $5.4 million. Zorin still owns two condos there, plus a $3.3 million home in Bal Harbour… Zorin was not an original buyer at #TrumpPalace, meaning his funds would not have gone to the #TrumpOrganization, which signed lucrative deals to brand several condo towers in South Florida in the early 2000s. The Trump name is attractive to Russian buyers and helped turn Sunny Isles Beach into a high-rise condo haven sometimes called 'Little Moscow.'"
