The United States Court of Appeals for DC has cleared the way for #Trump to fire members of the National #Labor Relations Board #NLRB & the Merit Systems Protection Board #MSPB, essentially granting Trump authority over formerly "independent" parts of the executive branch.

Judge Millet dissented saying the decision overturned #SCOTUS precedent & disabled the boards from functioning while the case proceeds.

Under #Trump, the #Consumer #FinancialProtection Bureau #CFPB has dropped nearly a dozen enforcement cases brought during the #Biden admin, ending lawsuits against #banks & #lenders for a variety of financial practices that the #watchdog agency no longer considers #illegal.

But on Wed, the bureau went a step further: It is seeking to GIVE BACK $105k that a #mortgage lender paid to settle #racial #discrimination claims….

The panel of 3 judges from the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit said the govt had met the “stringent requirements” for securing a stay while the court considers the #Trump admin’s appeal in the case.

The brief order had no noted dissents from the judges, who were appointed by presidents from both parties. It said a full opinion would be forthcoming.

…If they can’t destroy the agency, Trump & #Musk will transform it from a fierce #watchdog protecting #consumers into a docile lapdog. Under their leadership, it might as well be renamed the #FinancialServices Protection Bureau.

A government #watchdog lawyer whose dismissal by #Trump has been stalled by the courts announced on Monday that his office would seek to pause the mass #firings of some probationary #FederalWorkers.

The lawyer, Hampton Dellinger, who leads the Office of #SpecialCounsel, a government agency that protects #WhistleBlowers, said his office had determined that the firings might violate the #law.

He posted another 133 databases today -- all are from the Clop exploitation of a MOVEit vulnerability in May 2023, and all of these particular databases were stolen from Delta Dental.

In December 2023, Delta Dental notified the Maine Attorney General's Office that a total of 6,928,932 people were affected by the breach. But when you start seeing all the individual clients of theirs broken out this way and what kinds of data were involved, and then you remember that Delta Dental was only one of a large number of MOVEit clients, the breach really starts to hit home more.
