I don’t think the UK XPers are connected. There are pockets - London #XTC, sure there used to be something on the south coast? Midlands? Etc - but I haven’t found a common, unifying connection beyond individual social links. XTC seems to be the biggest influence, but that might be because of my London bias, and I think it’s waning (again, might be because I simply don’t get there any more)

These guys wear their influences on their sleeves, and have great taste. I mean - write mid-period XTC songs at punk length and get Andy Gill to produce your debut?

And then do a Kate Bush cover...and pick “Hounds of Love” and knock it out of the park? I mean, who the hell does that?

The Futureheads do. Good work, lads, on all fronts...a great debut from 2004.

The Futureheads LP cover. Grey background. Black and white pictures of the band members, mostly with their eyes covered by graphical rectangles. Additional striped graphics behind. One member is pink. The black LP plays on a vintage Bang & Olufsen Beogram 4000 linear-tracking turntable to the right. The dustcover is open, and the album, tonearm and surrounding aluminum plinth are reflected in its underside.
