April is my birth month, and around here is also the month when dandelions are the most vibrant and full of blooms. So get ready ... I might just bombard you with dandy facts every day, and you can't be mean to me about it because IT'S MY BIRTHDAY MONTH. 😆 😉

So, first fact: all parts of the humble dandelion are edible and highly beneficial. Yes even the stems. Even the roots. Even those hella bitter late summer leaves. They might be an acquired taste, but they are free food and medicine that can be found in soooooo many places. This is one reason I love them so much. #bloomscrolling #dandelion

(Continued from last post) The funny thing is, though, that even though all of this seems very deep and meaningful, what I really mean to say is that art is alive. And living things are often very down-to-earth and practical—they have to be, in order to survive.
Like a candle lit at Mary's feet: while it’s just a candle emitting fumes and posing a fire hazard, it is also a visual representation of a prayer. And it -is- a prayer. That’s how symbolism works—it’s not just about what it represents, but about being the thing it symbolizes. So, while there’s meaning and intention in this artwork, it’s also just a lamp, with a power cord and an LED that won’t last forever. Very prosaic.

Three finished dandelion lights—two for a private order, and one that will be in my shop soon. (levendlichtje.etsy.com)

Each light features a single needle-felted dandelion clock (what a strange term—why “clock”?) with an illuminated center. Stalks of light extend outward toward the rim of the flower head. It works as an elegant centerpiece both on and off.
