And here's the results of the mp3 glitching script (reillyspitzfaden.com/posts/202) played with the MuBu concatenative synthesis tools in Max/MSP

I'm analyzing the file based on transients, sorting the segments according to loudness (Y axis) and average frequency of the spectrum (X axis), then playing through those segments using those groupings

Here's a demo of the mp3 glitching script I wrote about here: reillyspitzfaden.com/posts/202

I added a batch script so I can take in a bunch of folders of .wav files, use ffmpeg to convert them to mp3 (and try out different bitrates), glitch them, re-encode those as .wav (easier to work with), and then clean up all the intermediate mp3s.

Our latest interviewee, Carl Bergstrøm-Nielsen, is an #improviser of #intuitiveMusic, and #composer of #experimentalMusic.

You can ask Carl questions on the topic of both #music and #games for our crowdsourced #interview:

The photo of #KarlheinzStockhausen's intuitive music group (and #moog #synth) is by Lene Duus ("educational usage", please, etc.), @carlintuitive is in the middle.

The concert night inside my installation at KW with @kmru and Okkyung Lee was wonderful. I am grateful to them for participating. It’s always extremely moving to see how music can be such a powerful communal force when the audience becomes one big organism. That’s what I’m doing it for, really. But the last month has been so full of projects that my body and brain have just been hurting these last few days. 😵

I’m curious if any of you out there have recommendations for things to watch that are both entertaining and not too demanding, yet still good and interesting? 😴📺

Iklectik, Ujif notfound, Alla Zagaikevych, Am Not, Ship Her Son, Deme, NFNR, Whaler, Undo Despot, Cedrik Fermont, Tears | Ov, stonefromthesky, ZSFU, Myaso Rave, VJ Lenoczka, 20ft Radio

Here is a moment from the larger work in progress, another track drafted in stylistic exploration. As honest as I can be, pulling on these threads of me.

All of what I do has acoustic instruments somewhere, but there is a nice electro-acoustic element to this one, kinda gives it a storybook feel or like the overture for a space opera.

I figured out automating the MP3 glitching I describe in this blog post! reillyspitzfaden.com/posts/202

It's extremely basic, but I almost never use Python, so I'm glad to find that it works. The code is on GitHub, and I'll be adding more as I refine it: github.com/reillypascal/mp3gli

Here's the glitched up MP3 I tested:
