#Google has #YouTube. And Google #Search. And Google #Docs. And Google #Meet. And #Gmail. And about a thousand other sites and services.

If not using a Google-endorsed #browser means #losing #access to all of that, most people are not going to be able to make that choice. They're going to have to use #Chrome, and they'll have to put up with it shoving "#interstitial ads" (aka all-encompassing #TV #commercials in the middle of your attempt to use the service) and a million other ads.

So it appears that 8x8.vc is no longer going to be a thing in the new year (February 2023). What was nice about it is that it was a way to cheaply and cheerfully have a moderated instance of Jitsi with consistent links.

Naturally we can't have nice things anymore.

I've run my own Jitsi instance and while it worked it was a pain in the ass. And all of their upgrade paths assume that I'm a business that needs to be able to phone the globe. If you know my phone habits you'll know this is a bug, not a feature.

Of course getting anyone over at 8x8 is fraught with chat-bots trying to understand the human condition while offering no service for your trouble.

If anyone know of anyone at 8x8 that I can talk to about my specific issue and how best to proceed while giving them some recompense for their service I'd be much obliged.

(Note: this is not a request for technical support or blathering about how you solved this problem with your bespoke solution. I don't care to solve your problem at this time. I'd rather give Zoom my money than try to spin up another problem in the guise of a solution. Beep boop).
