This is my first #AutismAcceptanceMonth. Before last September I didn't know I was autistic. I'm still learning to accept and love myself. It's been a crazy journey, but I wouldn't trade it for anything else. It's been wonderful to share these self-discovery moments with the autistic community especially here in the Fediverse. You've always been so kind to me. Thank you. I know I don't post a lot, but that's ok. I don't think I need to post a lot to let you know I appreciate you. Just knowing there's a whole community of us here makes me feel safe in a world that is constantly vile towards us. And autism acceptance month should be every month.

To allistics: You should be doing more. You should be loving us, not pitying us. You should be admiring us, not trying to turn us into something we'll never become. Instead you should be helping us become whatever we want to become. We're diverse, beautiful, and we'll keep resisting and fighting to be loved, accepted, supported, and admired.

When your brain constructs sentences like a program:

1. Action (nouns, verb)
2. Descriptors (adjectives, adverbs)
3. Type specification (pronouns, names)

Then end up asking yourself; is this a programmer thing, a neurodivergent thing, or maybe even both?

Dealing with something ridiculous at the moment that is a great example of just how 'easy' it really is to close down exposed data:

Found a server recently with no access controls at all that was hit by ransomware in May 2024 and most of the data is encrypted. (It got hit by an automated script, it wasn't targeted by a ransom group)

Found a non encrypted directory:

The company is STILL uploading, monthly, hundreds of millions of records of logs with their clients data.

Tried to reach out to the company, nothing. Company is from AUS so I tried ASD, nothing.

I sent an email to AUSCERT, they validated with me the issue and forwarded the information and my contact to ASD, they also tried to reach out to the company themselves.

Not a word from anyone and the server is still exposed a month after my initial alerts.

Logs are still being uploaded to the server so it's obvious no one did anything.

So what am I supposed to do here?

Elon Musk refers to people on benefits as "the parasite class", conveniently forgetting that as someone on the autism spectrum, he would probably be collecting disability checks if he hadn't been born rich.

I've been eyeing up this monster at my local record shop for about 18 months. Today I gave in. Probably my fav opera.
The record shop is literally a couple of streets away from where part of the opera is set. The opera texts are by a 13-year old #autistic kid. No-brainer, really.

Looks like I got rageblocked: was trying to reply to a toot suggesting I was "ableist" in sentiment. I wanted to ask a follow up question to enhance my own understanding.

"Autism" is a broad description of a spectrum that spans from moderate personality disorder all the way to serious condition

To slur and say someone has autism is offensive as it implies a caste system where somehow neuralistically normalcy is superior (similar to use of "gay" as a casual insult)

But "autistic" is an adjective which describes behaviour by people with ASD; generally anti-social folks *and* normal neurology; people with autism can behave autistically, but they can also behave civilly; savoury and elegantly — the same as neuralistically normal persons.

So when someone is behaving unconventionally, anti-social or "derpy" — when is it "ableist" to say that action was "autistic"?

I hate that I have skills, but I can't apply them because the social workers have crippled me so far that I can't comfortably work on stuff at home at my own pace, & my mental health prevents anyone from hiring me. (Anyone except disgusting recruiters for low functioning people)

I used to have a healthy local friend support network, my previous eviction wiped nearly everyone.

A new phone would prompt me to start a Odysee channel on being an Aspie on social welfare... That can't happen cause the person that previously agreed to a phone trade was denied a family loan for a car. He's now avoiding people to finish paid commissions.

As much as it hurts to ask, I need #mutualaid again to help either myself with food costs in a house that is collectively lying to me, or help my friend achieve a car purchase to ensure he gets his full driver's license this year so he can resume helping me. Links pinned to my profile.

Looking for Ideas for ceiling lighting for a gaming room.

We are renovating a bedroom which our #ASD son mostly uses for gaming. It will have occasional use as a spare room for visitors.

Sure there must be something LED that perhaps does different colours. The led light bulbs that can be put into regular fittings tend to be a bit dim.

He will get to choose but be nice to have some ideas first.

Not planning on pulling ceiling down to install a panel.
