"Grief apps" such as Untangle, DayNew and Empathy supposedly offer bereavement support. Features include virtual support groups and forums, administrative checklists; some have AI components such as advice from chatbots and personalized to-do lists. But mourning is messy and doesn't fall neatly on a timeline. Writer Lindsay Lee Wallace talked to privacy experts who also point out the risks of sharing deeply personal data — at your most vulnerable moment. Murat Kantarcioglu, a professor at the University of Texas told Lee Wallace, "I would never use this."
