After the last update, the Signal "desktop app" is requiring us to launch the mobile app - however, many of us do not have the Android or any other "mobile" version of the Signal app any more.

We are a large (by our standards) group of #Linux phone users, and your "desktop" app is our "mobile" app : )

Our previous phones on which #SignalApp was initially activated was an Android or Apple device and we have since then completely migrated to #Linuxphones. Some of us may have registered Signal on #signalcli, Flare, #Molly, Signal Android in #WayDroid, etc.

The #mobileLinux community is growing - we have members spanning a good number of projects and devices, e.g.
- @purism #Librem5 and #LibertyPhone running #Debian-based #PureOS #GnuLinux, #Alpine-based #PostmarketOS or #Mobian,
- @PINE64 #Pinephone and PP Pro running #ManjaroARM, #SailfishOS, etc.
- @furilabs #FLX1 running #Droidian-based #FuriOS,
- a wide variety of Android phones (including OnePlus 6, Google Pixel 3, #Fairphone 4 & 5) running #Alpine-based @postmarketOS ,

Hola gente, me presento soy Guishe (Guillermo) o manorag si asi lo prefieren. Soy un desarrollador jr (me gusta el backend , creo no soy el mejor programando pero me encanta resolver problemas y no los suelto hasta solucionarlos,). Actualmente sigo estudiando y en busca de chamba!

Cuento con otras skills por que naci rodeado de una famila de Ing, se un poco de todo, pero soy experto en nada. Todo esto por que siempre terminaba ayudando en algo y como buen observador aprendia de tanto ver como se hacen ciertas cosas. Se supone que soy Tecnico electricista industrial, pero sin certificacion por culpa de terceros.

Usuario de #GNUlinux mas en concreto de gentoo, y si puedo ayudar con algo de conocimiento ayudo.

Muchas personas por aqui diran que soy mi propio doble de riesgo. Dependiendo del oficio que este haciendo al momento puedo salis lastimado ej: Una vez me enterre un clavo en el pie :p

Soy un poco asocial, pero no antisocial o solo no se socializar. Estan invitados a interactuar conmigo, tengo muchos temas para hablar y divertir (Puede que tarde en contestar por que me agobio, me deprimo o me pongo ansioso JAJA).

So there are these guys who install #Arch and use #vim or #emacs and they think they are powerful #Unix gods. One such being is me myself.

I never had to reboot my computer or close the terminal to quit #neovim

But last night, I was using my #FreeBSD machine. I thought I watch a movie so I installed #mpv and upon starting it, I could not quit. The solution was powering off and rebooting my machine. Devastating, isn't it?

So dear Arch users, or #Gentoo users who think they are really geeky geeks and very brave. Give #BSDs a try :)

We need to do more to help #schools adopt #FreeSoftware / #OpenSource. In my experience, it is easier to get smaller communities schools to switch, especially if the #FOSS / #Linux communities can volunteer a few hours a month for setup and training teachers.

Der wachsende Datenhunger von Microsoft sowie das Ende des Supportzeitraumes von Windows 10 in diesem Jahr liefert immer mehr gute Gründe, sich nach einer Alternative umzusehen.

Zusammen mit dem Verein für Freie Software und Bildung e.V. schmeißen wir daher heute um 18:30 Uhr eine Linux-Install-Party in den Räumen des Klimabüro Gütersloh.

Mit Hilfe unserer vorbereiteten USB-Bootsticks könnt ihr auf eurem mitgebrachten Rechner verschiedene GNU/Linux-Varianten testen und gegebenfalls installieren.
Habt ihr Letzteres geplant, wäre ein Backup eurer Daten ratsam.

Für die Teilnahme an unserer kleinen Sause entstehen euch keine Kosten.

Wenn wir @Datenpunks am Mittwoch 18:30 Uhr im Klimabüro Gütersloh mit dem FSUB e.V. eine Linux-Install-Party veranstalten, haben wir natürlich frische Multi-Boot-Sticks dabei, die wir zum Hardware-Preis (5€) abgeben. Darauf haben wir 21 Betriebssystemvarianten hinterlegt, die vor Ort unverbindlich ausprobiert oder auch gleich installiert werden können.

Aktueller Anlass: Im Oktober stellt Microsoft den Support für #Windows10 ein. #Windows11 will sich auf vielen Computern nicht installieren lassen, obwohl die noch völlig in Ordnung sind. Mit GNU/Linux laufen sie weiter sicher und sogar flott.

Alle sind willkommen (außer Nazis). Eintritt frei! Bringt einen Laptop mit! Macht vorher ein Backup! Linux-Vorkenntnisse sind nicht erforderlich.

He optado por dejar más bien poca personalización porque siempre estoy indecisa y un aspecto simple e intuitivo me gusta mas que otra cosa. El fondo de escritorio es uno de los predeterminados de Debian porque básicamente es PRECIOSO y he intentado que se asemeje un poco a ubuntu porque también es bonito estéticamente
