@leoscarin I am so proud of you, son ❤️

I am so glad that constantly talking about @yunohost pays off eheheh 🎉

It really depends on your needs… For sure going to the Apps Catalog is helpful to get an idea of the most popular and best supported apps.

  • #Nextcloud gives you a cloud suite providing almost any essential service you might need.
  • I haven’t tested #AppFlowy yet, but it would probably be something you’d enjoy exploring as a #Notion alternative.
  • #Paperless is awesome for handling all your docs super efficiently
  • I use @readeck a lot, and it's very nice, even if it has a lot of room for improvement
  • Tons of people are migrating to #Ghost
  • Don’t abandon our beloved Pan.rent, but you could test @gotosocial, it's very nifty and well built!
  • changedetection.io is SUPER USEFUL
  • I use both #Wallos and #Actual to manage my finances, but it’s still going very poorly (pardon my joke 🫣)

I have been promoting, using, and translating #YunoHost in Italian for almlost five years (🤯), maybe other people who are new could help you more. @_elena’s self-hosting log can be of inspiration!

I've been thinking about using #Obsidian as an alternative to #Notion, so I finally got around to downloading it and imported my Notion pages. The import was really fast, that was nice, but it lost a whole load of formatting (sort of inevitable since they are different apps) and some information has disappeared, which is not so nice because it's kind of annoying to lose all that work.

At least that work isn't lost forever since it's still on my Notion account, but it means I'm not so sure Obsidian is going to be the useful alternative to Notion that I was hoping for (honestly I don't think anything is, which is also annoying because I don't like how Notion keeps pushing use of AI)

If you're using #Microsoft #OneNote, you will face disadvantages when you don't switch to #Windows11 soon:

You are forced to "One Note on Windows" which requires a #Microsoft365 account. If you want to keep your previous computer/OS, your synchronization speed gets reduced just to punish your disobedience: windowslatest.com/2025/03/24/m

For anything that requires a certain amount of privacy/security, for anything long-term (avoiding #lockin effects), OneNote was a bad idea in the first place.

People who started with the original OneNote already faced data loss when MS forced them into the then mediocre cloud version in 2018: karl-voit.at/2018/04/21/end-of

My recommendation: re-evaluate your requirements and switch to a much better long-term alternative, such as #Emacs #Orgmode & not yet another hip lock-in monster like #Obsidian, #Evernote or other closed source #cloud solutions: karl-voit.at/2021/01/18/tool-c

Windows Latest · Microsoft will intentionally slow OneNote for Windows 10, so you ditch it fasterMicrosoft has confirmed that it's killing off "OneNote for Windows 10," but it also plans to force the legacy app's sync to run slower.

I'm getting SO much more federation or #SelfHosted pilled with stuff.

I'm really appreciating the traditional model of selling sofware licenses as one off fees rather than monthly subscriptions.

Like with #Obsidian , I love it! Its also free. But its awesome that if the company dies tomorrow? My notes are still here, and I can still use the software.

If #Notion dies tomorrow? My notes are gone and I've lost my tool that my productivity relies on!

Tu utiliserais quoi ?

Curious what the #PKM community thinks of the Johnny Decimal system[1]?

I came across this years ago and it recently resurfaced.

Is anyone using this in their PKM software and successfully built workflows around it? It seems like an alternative to PARA and Zettelkasten.

I'm looking for a todo app (and I know how to Bing). I use it for essentially 3 things: grocery lists, keeping track of when to do chores like cleaning/taking out trash, and tracking study deadlines. What's good? I'm happy to pay for an application, but not a service (unless it's cheap!)

I need sync between Apple Watch and iPhone (preferably also Mac and a web-interface is a nice-to-have). I don't need AI.

I am switching away from #OmniFocus as the latest release has been broken for over a year now. #Todoist is very expensive. #Taskade doesn't have a Watch app. I'm not sure I'm hipster enough to use #Notion (also it seems not have a Watch app).

For grocery lists, I just need to be able to add things on my phone and tick them off on my Watch. I'd like to be able to (easily!) organize things by store (local supermarket, larger supermarket, hipster supermarket, DIY, that sort of thing).

For chores, I need to be able to set a schedule with a start time and deadline (trash is bi-weekly on a given day, so I need it to become active the evening before and pop up a reminder).

For studies, I need to be able to set start times and deadlines (so I only see what I need to study this week and the next), and I need to be able to create sub-tasks using a template (I have semesters of ~20 weeks each week with a pretty set list of tasks like read, do assignments, etc).

I sell Notion templates!

I currently offer a simple planner template which includes tracking for chronic illnesses, a freelancer's hub, and some add-ons.

There are more on my to-create list for this year too.

#Spotify + #Notion seemed like a good match, so thought I’d have fun and try to nicely integrate them :)

It imports recently played songs to Notion with:

- #Databases for #songs/#artists/#albums

- Currently Playing widget

- Play in Spotify links

- The databases calculate play counts for songs/artists/albums

- Updating page title+icon so you can see the playing status from the sidebar.

This is a handmade #integration.

Was a nice #challenge!
