Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad by Debra Martz
A country road crossing to see the train on its journey traversing 64 miles between Chama, NM, and Antonito, CO. It crosses the borders of Colorado and New Mexico (USA states) 11 times as it chugs its way up and over the 10,015′ high Cumbres Pass.

A succession of these traction engines were making their way to a new site. This one very sensibly towed a large container of water.

We joined several other train enthusiasts chasing the train along its route through the New Mexico and Colorado mountains. Engine 484, along with several reddish-color passenger cars, departed from the Chama, NM depot en route to Antonito, CO. B&W conversion with some selective colors

I play weekend #telephoneEngineer at the #DeanForestRailway #steam #railway - it’s all fun and games until a #steamEngine starts a small lineside fire directly on top of the #telephone cable!

This damage took out phones at 3 stations, and the token machine used by our #signalBoxes

Luckily it wasn’t too hard to get to, and we had a suitable length of scrap cable we could joint in as a temporary fix

Jointing grease filled cable in the sunshine… there are worse ways to spend a Saturday!
