By including the work of Indigenous storytellers, poets, and scholars from around the globe, editor Lara Jacobs and chapter authors effectively explore the Indigenous value systems—relationships, reciprocity, and responsibility—that are fundamental to Indigenous Knowledge systems and cultures. Indigenous languages and positionality statements are featured for each of the contributors to frame their cultural and geographical background and to allow each Indigenous voice to lead discussions and contribute critical discourse to the literature on Indigenous Knowledges and value systems. The Baltimore American Indian Center Pow wow was excellent. They did a Smoke Dance which I had never seen before. I put a clip of one below. They also did a Rabbit Couples dance which we hardly ever see at our local. No jingle dance competition this year...not sure why so there wasn't a healing circle but they did do roundhouse circle. And of course the hand drum competition did not disappoint.

I went for a 4 km walk today. I had more energy than I did yesterday, thankfully. However, I am starting to have hot flashes again. What gives?

Tomorrow morning, I plan on wearing my orange shirt and joining the #EveryChildMatters walk. I hope my body cooperates. I still want to know why Truth and Reconciliation Day is only a holiday for bankers and politicians. A lot of Indigenous people can't participate because they don't get the day off. Hardly seems reconciliatory, does it?

Today is Red Dress Day, in honour of missing and murdered Indigenous people. In Canada, Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirit people are six times more likely to be murdered than their non-Indigenous counterparts.
