A totally not haunted hallway from an abandoned hospital in Chicago #urbexphotography

Imagine your worst horror movie hallway, maybe like from the original Halloween. Paint peels on the white walls, at the far end is a window letting in light. The floor is covered in debris. A sign hangs overhead and reads (in all capital letters):

This was more or less a bucket list for me and at #openmonumentendag I was finally able to visit it. The #Schans of #Lauwershoek is a schans (literally translated: ramp or skijump) that is part of the #Enceinte of #Antwerp, a ring of fortifications around the city.

Situated about 10km from the river #Scheldt, the Schans of Lauwershoek and #Landmolen were built as an extra protection for the forts of Steendorp and Haasdonk. The ramp pointed towards the enemy in such a manner that the Belgian military could attack the enemy from the back when they passed it.

Het Sanatorium Joseph Lemaire is een vroeger sanatorium gelegen in een natuurgebied inTombeek (Overijse) waar gedurende 30 jaar TBC patiënten werden verzorgd. Later werd het een revalidatiecentrum voor langdurig zieken.

Het gebouw, ontworpen door architect Maxime Brunfaut, rekent men tot het modernisme.

In 1987 kwam het leeg te staan en het heeft bijna 30 jaar geduurd tot het volledig gerenoveerd werd. Nu is het een woonzorgcentrum.
